[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Ju-hee] Kwon Seong-dong, a member of the People Power Party, commented on the critical evaluations regarding former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's frequent head-shaking habit, known as 'doridori,' saying, "Since I am pointing it out beside him, it will gradually improve."
Kwon, who is known to be friends with former Prosecutor General Yoon, stated in an interview with MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' on the 30th, "Shaking the head from side to side is a habit, but since he is a political newcomer," adding, "I think it will get better in the future."
Earlier, during his presidential election candidacy announcement press conference on the 29th, former Prosecutor General Yoon shook his head from side to side approximately 740 times, earning him the nickname 'Doridori Yoon.'
When the host asked if Yoon's habit had been like that in the past, Kwon speculated, "His usual speaking style involves looking side to side while talking, but since it was his first time in front of many reporters yesterday, he was probably nervous." He then laughed, saying, "As time passed, during the Q&A session later, he was almost normal."
Regarding some harsh criticisms directed at former Prosecutor General Yoon, such as "there is no vision," Kwon evaluated, "Overall, he pointed out the failures of the Moon Jae-in administration in detail and reflected the politics he aims for and his own values."
On the issue of Yoon's entry into the People Power Party, he said, "Our party's primary election plan starts from late August to early September, so the most desirable and appropriate time is for former Prosecutor General Yoon to join the party before the primary election train departs."
When asked if his entry into the party is a foregone conclusion, Kwon replied, "Wouldn't it be?" He added, "The fact that he met me, a four-term veteran, in Gangneung during his hiatus itself sends such a message, and throughout yesterday's press conference, he said he shares the values and philosophy of the People Power Party. Ultimately, it is appropriate to interpret this as indirectly expressing that his choice is not the third zone but the People Power Party."
