Accelerating Discovery of New Elevator Solutions and Business Models through AI, Robots, and Big Data Integration
Commercial Launch of 'AI-LIFT' in September... Continued Expansion of AI Robot Applications in Apartments, Hospitals, and Commercial Buildings
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT announced on the 29th that it has signed an MOU with Hyundai Elevator to expand the 'Elevator Digital Transformation (DX) Business' and will promote new elevator DX businesses linked with artificial intelligence (AI) and robots through technology exchange between the two companies.
Through this collaboration, KT and Hyundai Elevator will jointly develop various elevator DX services such as AI-based elevator control solutions and autonomous robot-elevator linkage solutions. They plan to expand the application of various services in daily life, including using elevators via voice interfaces or mobile applications, as well as autonomous robots riding elevators by themselves to deliver to destinations.
In the future, based on facial recognition technology and big data, they plan to provide personalized services such as adjusting lighting, providing music and media content by analyzing real-time passenger status. In addition, they are considering integrating various IT technologies for increased operational efficiency through data analysis, proactive maintenance, and security.
The two companies will commercialize the 'AI-LIFT' service, which calls elevators through Giga Genie, targeting existing apartment complexes in September. Furthermore, they plan to expand AI robots currently applied in hotels linked with elevators to apartments, hospitals, commercial buildings, and more. They will also promote close marketing cooperation to expand the elevator DX business.
Song Seungbong, CEO of Hyundai Elevator, said, “We are promoting the development of future elevator (Vertical e-Mobility) products and services that provide customers with efficiency, convenience, and safety through the convergence of elevators and IT,” adding, “This will be a new turning point for the elevator industry, which has been stagnant.”
Park Jongwook, Head of KT's Management Planning Division, stated, “Through the fusion of Hyundai Elevator’s industry-leading remote management technology and KT’s digital platform technology, we expect to gain new competitiveness in the elevator DX field,” and added, “We will continue to expand various collaborations by utilizing KT’s core competencies in AI, big data, and differentiated cloud technologies.”
