GS Retail Partners with Startup Remedy for Uniform Upcycling ECO-PET Campaign
Donation to Animal Protection Centers for Pets and Event for Customers Who Want to Own Goods
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Eco-friendly harnesses(straps worn on pets' shoulders and chests) made from GS25 and GS The Fresh uniforms will be donated to abandoned dog protection centers.
On the afternoon of the 29th, GS Retail announced that it held a donation ceremony at the Animal Freedom Union On Center (animal protection center) in Namyangju, attended by Kim Myung-jong, Head of Strategy Division at GS Retail (Executive Director), Kim Min-hee, CEO of Remedy, and Yoon Jung-im, Director of On Center, to deliver 50 harnesses.
The harnesses were made in an H-type design reminiscent of the old GS25 and GS The Fresh uniforms and are suitable for small to medium-sized dogs weighing about 3 to 7 kg (chest circumference 38?46 cm). They feature adjustable lead straps and functional lining to enhance convenience for both customers and their pets.
The background for donating the harnesses was an idea to upcycle old and torn uniforms that had accumulated at GS Retail into eco-friendly products.
GS Retail stated, "Together with Remedy, a startup company that upcycles corporate waste into pet products, we transformed uniforms into harnesses and donated them to animal protection centers so they can be used where needed." GS Retail plans to continue social contribution activities by planning secondary and tertiary campaigns like 'ECO-PET' to introduce various eco-friendly goods.
Meanwhile, GS25 will hold a prize event for one month starting July 1, where customers who accumulate GS&POINT on all pet product purchases will receive a 100% guaranteed coupon for a harness or Grureu chicken breast. AboutPet, a pet lifestyle platform, will run an event from July 1, giving a harness to the first 100 customers who purchase six types of Hubs Melange Toys. Customers who receive a harness and upload a certification photo on AboutPet logs between July 15 and 31 will be given a 10,000 KRW voucher usable on AboutPet.
Kim Myung-jong, Head of Strategy Division at GS Retail (Executive Director), said, "It is an honor to transform old uniforms that are no longer worn into stylish harnesses to gift to pets," adding, "We will strengthen activities that utilize waste generated by corporate activities in an eco-friendly way and contribute to society."
