Netflix Supports Partial Downloads... Even Splitting Movies into Multiple Parts

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Netflix customers will soon be able to download movies in parts. By using the 'partial download' feature, they can watch offline during travel or commuting time.

According to IT media The Verge on the 29th, Netflix announced on the 28th (local time) that it will offer customers the 'partial download viewing' feature.

Netflix provides the partial download viewing feature to customers with Google Android-based smartphones and tablet PCs.

In the future, the feature will be expanded to Apple iOS operating systems. The 'Download for You' service, which downloads recommended content based on viewing history, is also being tested for use on iOS devices.

Previously, customers had to download the entire content they wanted to watch to play it offline, but this inconvenience is expected to be resolved. Users will be able to enjoy content during long commutes or airplane and car trips.

Killa Robison, Vice President of Product Innovation at Netflix, said, "We understand the frustration when downloads fail to complete due to unreliable Wi-Fi environments and data limits," adding, "Now, even if the download is not complete, you can still watch Netflix content."
