[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seocho-gu (Mayor Eunhee Jo) is conducting the "2021 Seocho-gu Gender-Responsive Statistics Survey" together with the Seocho-gu Gender Equality Activity Center, Seocho Women-Friendly Supporters, and the Gender Equality Instructors Group.
Gender-responsive statistics refer to statistics produced and presented by analyzing the conditions and needs of women and men, which are separated by gender at the individual level, in order to reflect them in policies.
This survey is scheduled to be conducted online from June 28 to July 2 through the Seocho-gu Office and Seocho-gu Gender Equality Activity Center websites. Seocho Women-Friendly Supporters activists will participate as survey personnel, and offline surveys will also be conducted concurrently.
This year’s Seocho-gu Gender-Responsive Statistics Survey is particularly meaningful because it actively reflects residents' opinions from the survey questions stage. The activists involved in this survey activity consist of Seocho-gu Women-Friendly Supporters and the Gender Equality Instructors Group. The Seocho-gu Gender Equality Activity Center held multiple online and offline workshops on statistical techniques for the activists, actively supporting residents to create survey questions themselves and conduct the survey directly.
Through this year’s Seocho-gu Gender-Responsive Statistics Survey, the district plans to analyze more closely the current status of gender equality and policy demands of Seocho-gu residents, focusing on two areas: "family" and "safety."
The final publication is targeted for the end of August this year, and the analyzed data will be used to review and establish the district’s gender equality policies.
Seocho-gu Mayor Eunhee Jo stated, “It is especially meaningful that residents who are actively willing to participate in district administration directly create the questions and participate in the survey, conducting a gender-responsive statistics research unique to Seocho.” She added, “I hope this statistical data will help in establishing Seocho-gu’s women-friendly city policies.”
