Damyang-gun Operates Healing Program "Embracing Nature" for Dementia Patients and Families


[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 28th, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it recently conducted a healing program for elderly people with dementia and mild cognitive impairment and their families.


The program, carried out in collaboration with Yongoreum Nature School located in Wolsan-myeon, an institution operating the healing agriculture program, consisted of content utilizing agricultural and rural resources such as aromatherapy using herb plants like rosemary, blueberry harvesting, and succulent terrarium experience.


On this day, participants spent a meaningful time communicating with families facing similar difficulties while experiencing sufficient stimulation and enjoyment of the sensory organs through physical activities of cultivating and utilizing plant resources, which are the materials of healing agriculture.


Kim Sunbok, the head of the health center, said, “I hope this process, which allows the subjects and caregivers to get sunlight, move their bodies, and sufficiently stimulate their sensory organs, provided a healing time.”
