[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Japan recorded 1,700 new COVID-19 cases.
According to NHK's tally on the 25th, as of 6:30 PM that day, 1,709 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed across Japan.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases rose to 793,402. The death toll increased by 31 that day, reaching 14,649.
After peaking in early to mid last month and then declining, Japan's daily new cases are showing signs of rising again this week.
This is because new cases have slightly increased for four consecutive days from the 22nd to that day compared to the previous week.
In Tokyo, the host city of the Tokyo Olympics scheduled to open on the 23rd of next month, 562 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed that day.
Although this is 8 fewer than the previous day, it is 109 more compared to a week ago.
