[Asia Economy Reporter Park Ji-hwan] Amid the ongoing spread of COVID-19 in South Korea, new confirmed cases continued to be reported nationwide on the 25th.
According to health authorities, the Seoul Metropolitan Government, and other local governments, from midnight to 9 p.m. on that day, 582 new COVID-19 positive cases were confirmed nationwide. This is 32 more than the 550 cases recorded at the same time the previous day.
By region, 431 cases (74.1%) were reported in the Seoul metropolitan area, and 151 cases (25.9%) in non-metropolitan areas.
By city and province, the numbers are as follows: Seoul 260, Gyeonggi 159, Gangwon 35, Busan 28, Ulsan 19, Incheon 12, Daegu and Gyeongnam 10 each, Gyeongbuk and Jeju 9 each, Gwangju 8, Daejeon and Chungnam 7 each, Chungbuk 4, Jeonbuk 3, Sejong and Jeonnam 1 each.
Since there is still time until midnight when the tally closes, the number of new confirmed cases to be announced at midnight on the 26th is expected to reach the mid-to-high 600s. On the previous day, 84 additional cases were reported after 9 p.m., bringing the final total to 634.
