Enhancing Safety and Convenience for Local Residents and Pension Guests
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 25th that it has reconstructed the aging bridges in Un-ri and Cheonggye-ri, Danseong-myeon, a long-awaited project for local residents.
According to the county, the existing bridge installed over the stream in the Cheonghoje Village area of Un-ri is a sewolgyo (small-scale simple bridge) type bridge built before the 1980s.
This bridge was old, had a low load capacity, was narrow, and was frequently flooded during rain, causing great inconvenience to residents. Recently, with the increase in houses and pensions in the Cheonghoje Village area, safety issues have been raised not only by residents but also by pension users.
To resolve these inconveniences, the county started construction last April with a project cost of 1.2 billion KRW and completed the reconstruction of the Cheonghoje Bridge on this day.
The newly constructed Cheonghoje Bridge widened the road width from the existing 3m to 6m, facilitating the passage of large vehicles such as SUVs. In particular, the existing railing, which was low and weak causing insecurity, was redesigned to ensure safety.
Additionally, the bridge height was raised above the existing road level, and the previously unpaved connecting road was finished with asphalt paving and lane markings.
A county official said, “With the reconstruction of the Cheonghoje Bridge, the convenience and traffic safety for residents of Un-ri and Cheonggye-ri areas as well as pension users have greatly improved. We will continue to make various efforts to resolve the long-standing projects of the residents.”
Meanwhile, Sancheong-gun is investing a budget of 15.8 billion KRW this year to address small-scale resident-requested projects. These small-scale projects are being promoted across five sectors: construction administration, roads, rivers, agricultural infrastructure, and water supply.
