[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] On the 25th, Heo Yoon-geum, director of Goseong Library under the Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education, signed a business agreement with Georyu Elementary School and will operate the 2021 Library Humanities on the Road public contest project.
Earlier this year, Goseong Library was selected in two categories of the Library Humanities on the Road public contest hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and in the second round of the contest in June, a children’s program category was also selected, achieving a grand slam by operating public contest projects targeting adults, youth, and children.
The newly selected public contest project will be operated as a children’s humanities program under the theme “Meeting Picture Books in the Author’s Forest” for students of two elementary schools.
Georyu Elementary School will run a reading psychology program titled “A Picture Book Journey That Opens the Heart” as a sub-theme from September to October over a total of seven sessions, featuring various themed picture book readings and book play that soothe children’s hearts.
In the fourth session, an Imagination Yard space tour, experience, and field trip program designed to awaken children’s imagination will also be planned, making the program even richer.
A library official stated, “Through projects supported by Goseong Library, we hope children will have an opportunity to grow psychologically, and furthermore, that school libraries and public libraries maintain a cooperative relationship and grow together.”
