[Asia Economy Online Issue Team] Broadcaster Ham So-won is reported to be earning significant income through live broadcasts in China after suspending her domestic broadcasting activities.

Ham So-won has recently been communicating with Chinese netizens through the Chinese social networking service (SNS) platform 'Douyin'. She meets fans by sharing updates via live broadcasts together with her husband Jin Hua and mother-in-law Ham Jin Mama.

The channel created by Ham So-won reached 340,000 followers within three months of its launch, and recent live broadcasts attracted more than 30,000 viewers. In particular, Ham So-won is said to be earning revenue by selling products through the platform. The amount of sponsorship money she receives through this is also reported to be considerable.

Meanwhile, Ham So-won married Jin Hua, a Chinese man 18 years her junior, in 2017, and they have a daughter named Hyejeong. They appeared on TV Chosun's entertainment program 'Taste of Wife,' gaining attention for their glamorous daily life, but withdrew amid controversies over broadcast manipulation.
