Plans to Operate Education, R&D, and Community-Linked Programs
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chosun University announced on the 24th that it has established ‘CU INNO SPACE,’ a free creative space where students can take an interest in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and utilize it.
At the opening ceremony held that day, about 50 professors and students attended, including President Min Youngdon, Vice President Lee Daeyong, Dean of the IT Convergence College Kim Pangu, Director of the University Innovation Project Support Center Lee Minchang, Director of the SW-Centered University Project Team Jeong Ilyong, and President of the IT Convergence College Student Council Yoo Minwoo.
CU INNO SPACE, built with support from the University Innovation Support Project and the SW-Centered University Project, was created within the IT Convergence College of Chosun University, which consists of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Department of Computer Engineering, Department of Artificial Intelligence Engineering, and Department of Information and Communication Engineering.
The Creation space, located in the lobby on the first floor of the IT Convergence College, is an open creative space where individuals or teams can freely carry out projects. A large monitor composed of nine 55-inch monitors is installed, which can be used not only for project execution but also for academic conferences and exhibitions.
The Innovation space is equipped with devices and equipment to experience artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (VR) or related technologies.
Facilities include the Virtuix Omni Zone, where users can freely walk and run 360 degrees to enjoy VR content, and the Hololens & Vive Zone, where MR (Mixed Reality) content combining VR and AR can be experienced.
It is expected that community-linked programs related to advanced technology will be operated, such as AR and VR experiences and creative work testing, extracurricular programs related to advanced technology, and IT field experience campus tours.
The Maker space & 3D printer workshop, located on the second floor of the IT Convergence College, is a creative space where creative activities can be performed using 3D printers, equipped with facilities to design and print projects using 3D printers.
The 142㎡ Education space was prepared to build educational infrastructure for accumulating educational content and will be used for lectures, hackathon competitions, and industry-academia capstone design education.
Chosun University plans to specialize CU INNO SPACE as a project creation, experience, and implementation space utilizing advanced technology, using it for various extracurricular program education, as well as gradually increasing its utilization through research and development and community-linked program operations.
President Min Youngdon said, “Failure is also a privilege of youth,” and added, “I hope CU INNO SPACE becomes a space where our students and local residents who are not afraid of failure and challenge can freely demonstrate their creative capabilities.”
