40-Year-Old Man Arrested After Failed Bank Robbery Attempt: "Struggling Financially Due to Stock Investments"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A man who failed to demand money at knifepoint in a financial institution and fled was caught by the police.


According to the police on the 24th, the Songpa Police Station in Seoul arrested and is investigating A (47) on charges of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.


A is accused of chasing and entering a financial institution in Songpa-dong, Songpa-gu at 7:21 a.m. the previous day, threatening an employee with a knife and demanding money, but giving up the crime and fleeing after the employee persuaded him.


A was caught at 5:05 p.m. the same day in Hapjeong-dong, Mapo-gu. He is known to have stated during the police investigation that he "incurred huge debts from stock investment and suffered financial difficulties." The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant for A soon.
