[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Coupang has provided opportunities for employees who lost their workplaces due to the fire at the Deokpyeong Logistics Center to work at other business sites. They have also taken steps to compensate employees whose personal belongings were lost due to the urgent evacuation.

Coupang stated that they are prioritizing employees' preferred locations as much as possible for reassignment, and as of the 23rd, 1,446 out of a total of 1,484 employees (97%) who requested reassignment have been placed. They are supporting employees who have not yet been reassigned to be placed at their preferred locations as much as possible, and salaries continue to be paid even during periods when employees are not working.

A Coupang official said, "We are doing our best to ensure employment stability for employees who lost their valuable workplaces due to the fire," adding, "For reassignment locations without shuttle bus routes for commuting, additional shuttle buses have been arranged."

On the 22nd, welcoming events and orientations were held at more than 20 logistics centers in the metropolitan area, including Dongtan and Anseong Logistics Centers, which received reassigned personnel. Employee Ko Chun-ja, who worked at the Deokpyeong Logistics Center, said, "I was very shocked and heartbroken on the first day of the fire, but I felt reassured because they immediately found a new logistics center for me to work at and said they would pay my salary during the break period as well."

Meanwhile, on the 17th, when the fire broke out, Coupang's quick response enabled all workers to evacuate within 5 minutes after the fire was reported, preventing any casualties among employees.
