Tourism Organization Conducts Walking Tour of 'Korean History and Culture Spaces' in Central London

[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 24th that it conducted a walking tour introducing Korean cultural experience spaces located throughout central London in collaboration with the Korean Cultural Center UK.

Held under the name "Where London Meets Korea," this walking tour featured 20 participants selected by lottery from a total of 417 applicants. It was designed to allow participants to enjoy Korean historical and cultural sites in London with explanations from a guide. This is the first walking tour abroad aimed at promoting local Korean cultural experience spaces themed around Korean culture.

The walking tour started on the 23rd (local time) at the Korean War Memorial near the Thames River in London, then proceeded to the Korean Cultural Center UK, Trafalgar Square, various Korean shops, the British Museum, and concluded with a Korean restaurant experience.

Participants began the walking tour at the Korean War Memorial to commemorate the 71st anniversary of the Korean War, learning about the British military's participation?the second largest troop deployment among UN forces at the time?and Korean history. They also explored the Korean Gallery within the British Museum, which introduced traditional Korean culture and artworks, and enjoyed Korean cuisine at a Korean restaurant, completing a roughly two-hour "mini Korean trip."

Lee Sang-min, head of the Korea Tourism Organization's London office, stated, "In a situation where free travel is still difficult, we provided an opportunity to experience Korea even without traveling there. We will continue to stimulate curiosity about Korea and strive to attract more British visitors to Korea once travel resumes."
