Guro-gu Conducts Special Lectures and Counseling for College Entrance Exam Preparation

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) is conducting special lectures on essay writing and one-on-one counseling for college entrance exam preparation targeting examinees attending high schools in the district or residing in Guro-gu.

On the 24th, Guro-gu announced, "To assist examinees preparing for the 2022 academic year college entrance exams, we have prepared various programs such as humanities and mathematical essay special lectures and one-on-one customized counseling."

First, from July 19 to August 9, a total of four sessions of essay special lectures for early admission preparation will be held.

The lectures will be conducted for 40 examinees (20 for humanities essay, 20 for mathematical essay) every Monday for 3 hours via the online platform Zoom.

Junhan Byun, a humanities essay instructor from Giho Education Co., a specialized essay education institution, will cover topic analysis, data interpretation practice, critique, and alternative suggestions, while Seungman Lee, a mathematical essay instructor, will provide lectures on analyzing university-specific question characteristics and practical tests.

Examinees wishing to participate can apply on the Guro Learning Support Center website from June 28 to July 13. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis.

In addition, various one-on-one counseling sessions will be conducted.

The first round of one-on-one counseling for self-introduction letters, scheduled for July 31, is a program where six professional counselors review self-introduction letters based on students' submitted self-introduction letters, school records, and counseling application forms. Applications are accepted from June 28 to July 16 on the Guro Learning Support Center website, with a limit of 60 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.

In August, individual intensive college counseling and special early admission counseling conducted by the Guro Learning Support Center's college admission counselors will also be provided. The individual intensive counseling on August 14 offers one-on-one customized admission information based on students' counseling applications.

The special early admission counseling will be conducted from August 23 to September 10, referencing school records and mock exam score reports, through online or in-person counseling.

Individual intensive counseling is available for 48 students from July 19 to August 6, and special early admission counseling is open year-round for 60 students on a first-come, first-served basis.

Applications can be made on the Guro Learning Support Center website under the 'College Admission Process' and 'Counseling' sections.

A Guro-gu official stated, "We hope that these special lectures and counseling will be helpful to examinees and parents amid the uncertain entrance exam environment due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic," and added, "We will do our best to prepare various programs such as briefings and counseling to provide admission information tailored to students."
