Implementing the Message "We Will Remember Every Last One" in the Names of the 6.25 Veterans and the 55 West Sea Defense Heroes
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] To commemorate the 71st anniversary of the Korean War (6.25 War) this year, the Seoul Metropolitan Government will unveil a large banner with the message "We will remember every last one" on the west exterior wall of the Seoul Library on the 24th.
Visible at a glance from Sejong-daero towards Gwanghwamun, this large banner includes the names of the Korean War veterans and the 55 soldiers who defended the West Sea. It also carries the meaning of remembering and expressing gratitude to all those who worked hard to protect peace on this land.
On June 4th, the Seoul Dream Signboard featuring photos of Korean War veterans by artist Rami Hyun attracted much attention from citizens. In particular, some veterans, their families, and acquaintances contacted the city directly after seeing the signboard.
Along with the Dream Signboard, Seoul will post a large banner on the west exterior wall displaying the names of soldiers who participated in the Korean War, the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong, the Cheonan ship sinking, and the Yeonpyeong Island shelling provocation. The phrase "We will remember every last one" expressed through the names of those who defended the country draws attention. It conveys gratitude and respect to all who sacrificed for peace on the Korean Peninsula.
Han Young-hee, Director of Citizen Communication Planning at Seoul City, said, "Through this project, we wanted to reaffirm Seoul's commitment to remember every 'last one' who contributed to building the peaceful Republic of Korea we have today and to honor their legacy," adding, "On the 71st anniversary of the Korean War, I hope we can express our gratitude to all those who sacrificed and devoted themselves so that we can enjoy our current daily lives."
