[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Mercedes-Benz Korea officially launched the top-tier model of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, 'The New Mercedes-Maybach S-Class,' in Korea on the 24th.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Maybach this year, Mercedes-Benz Korea held 'The New Maybach S-Class Domestic Launch and Maybach 100th Anniversary Special Exhibition' at the Areumjigi Foundation building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and began full-scale sales. The New Maybach S-Class is a completely redesigned luxury flagship sedan after six years, combining the perfection and advanced technology of The New Mercedes-Benz S-Class with the luxury of Maybach.

The New Maybach S-Class features a short front overhang (the distance from the vehicle's front end to the wheel center), the longest wheelbase among S-Class models, and large wheels, forming a three-box sedan shape. The front showcases a distinctive hood with chrome pins, a Maybach-exclusive radiator grille with vertically arranged 3D trim strips, and lettering that express grandeur.

The side includes wide rear passenger doors, chrome-treated B-pillars, Maybach brand emblems attached to the C-pillars, Maybach-exclusive wheels, triangular windows, and flush door handles. The rear features tail lights with a progressive design divided into two sections, a Maybach-exclusive rear bumper, and exhaust pipes. Mercedes-Benz offers an optional two-tone color finish in seven combinations to emphasize luxury.

The interior is equipped with a total of five display screens, including a central 12.8-inch OLED display and a 3D instrument cluster. The seats, with the exclusive package applied as standard, are finished in diamond-patterned Nappa leather, and the roof liner is covered with high-quality Dinamica microfiber, enhancing the sense of luxury.

Additionally, The New Mercedes-Maybach S-Class reduces noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). The IR laminated glass, a film layer inserted between the glass panes, blocks external noise from wind or road during driving as well as infrared rays. Noise-reducing tires with foam material inside the tire tread acting as sound absorbers are also equipped as standard.

The New Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is equipped with advanced safety and luxurious convenience features based on innovative technology to provide rear-seat passengers with first-class comfort. These include a digital light system with a high-resolution lighting system, rear-seat airbags, a driving assistance package, and the Maybach brand's first rear-seat belt feeder. The executive seats offer neck and shoulder heating functions adjustable up to 43.5 degrees and leg rests adjustable up to 50 degrees. Furthermore, power-operated rear comfort doors allow convenient opening and closing with a single button, even on slopes, without reaching for the door.

Moreover, rear-axle steering reduces the turning radius by about 2 meters, delivering a comfortable ride in urban areas and agility at high speeds. The second-generation MBUX is installed for more intuitive use of in-car functions, and augmented reality navigation allows easier checking of traffic information even in complex traffic situations. The standard adaptive rear lighting enables adjustment of interior lighting brightness and position according to the occupant's preferences and purposes.

The New Maybach S-Class is powered by a V8 gasoline engine (M176) producing a maximum output of 503 horsepower and a peak torque of 71.4 kg·m. Notably, a Maybach-exclusive mode has been added to the dynamic select driving modes to provide comfort to rear-seat passengers. Additionally, the two-stage gear start minimizes body movement, offering a comfortable driving experience.

Mark Rein, Vice President of Product and Marketing at Mercedes-Benz Korea, emphasized, "As a leader providing the ultimate luxury, we are doing our best to inherit the unique heritage of Maybach, which has continued for the past 100 years, and to establish the highest craftsmanship."

The price of the newly launched The New Mercedes-Maybach S 580 4MATIC, including VAT, is 260.6 million KRW.
