[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Dae-seok) announced on the 23rd that it has signed a business agreement with the Gwangju Creative Economy Innovation Center (Director Ha Sang-yong) to revitalize youth startups and create a startup ecosystem in the region.
Amid the COVID-19 crisis, Seo-gu opened the youth startup platform ‘Seo-gu START UP center’ on the basement first floor of Nongsung Station on the 31st of last month and has been operating it in full swing to support youth employment and startups.
Through this business agreement, Seo-gu plans to develop cooperative models linked with the ‘Seo-gu START UP center’ for startup education, facility use, and building an artificial intelligence industry base, which is a key industry sector of Gwangju, to support youth startups more practically and effectively.
In particular, through collaboration with the Gwangju AI Startup Camp, which will newly open next month in the former Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration building, the Gwangju Creative Economy Innovation Center, the job cafe Cheongchun Balsan Workshop, and Gwangju’s Todak Todak Employment and Startup Cafe, Seo-gu plans to strengthen inter-agency cooperation so that this area can develop into a regional youth employment and startup support cluster.
Seo Dae-seok, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, “Through a close cooperative system between the two organizations, we will develop and promote various cooperative business models to support youth employment and startups,” adding, “We will implement sustainable policies so that young people can succeed in employment and settle as stable companies after starting their businesses.”
