[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] City Labs, an ICT solution specialist company based on 4th industrial revolution technology, announced on the 23rd that it has won the Seoul Gangbuk area Bus Information Terminal (BIT) installation project.
This project aims to improve public transportation services for citizens by bridging the bus information gap, and to achieve budget savings for the city through increased efficiency by installing different types of BITs considering installation costs, performance, displayed routes, and passenger numbers.
City Labs was selected as the final bidder in this project conducted through a restricted competitive bidding process, recognized for its experience in a total of 87 related projects within the BIS (Bus Information System) and BIT networks operated by 32 local governments nationwide.
Through this project, City Labs plans to manufacture and install approximately 180 new BIT units in the Seoul Gangbuk area and relocate 5 units. Some bus stops in the Gangnam area with more than 5 routes are also included in the project scope.
The company intends to comprehensively improve stability issues, which have been pointed out as problems in existing BITs, by introducing ▲ an integrated control unit and a new Linux-based operating system, ▲ a dual enclosure structure design, and ▲ AR coating technology that is resistant to external shocks and reduces direct sunlight reflection in the newly installed BIT models.
Additionally, by enhancing waterproof, dustproof, and heat dissipation functions, the equipment lifespan will be extended. Furthermore, the company plans to improve services considering transportation vulnerable groups through bus arrival notifications and easier visual design.
Cho Youngjoong, CEO of City Labs, said, “City Labs has successful experience in BIT and BIS construction nationwide, including the Seoul Gangseo area, metropolitan areas, and large cities, leveraging technology know-how to reduce power consumption and secure cost competitiveness.” He added, “With the recent surge in demand for replacing outdated BIT and BIS models nationwide, we will solidify our position as a leading industry player through flawless project execution and continuously strive to expand the scope of SOC orders across the country.”
