Gyeongnam Province Holds Meeting with Officials on Landslide Prevention

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Gyeongsangnam-do held the '2021 Landslide Prevention Officials Meeting' at the Gyeongnam Provincial Western Office on the 22nd to review the progress of landslide prevention and response efforts.


The meeting was organized to prevent and respond to landslides caused by typhoons and heavy rainfall.


Key points from the nationwide landslide prevention officials meeting held on the 14th were conveyed, and the restoration status and response plans for landslide damage caused by last year's heavy rains and typhoons were reviewed.


Excellent cases of landslide restoration projects from Yangsan-si, Sancheong-gun, Hamyang-gun, and Geochang-gun were shared, and time was spent addressing areas needing improvement.


Following this, discussions continued on the progress of landslide prevention measures by city and county, preparations for typhoons and heavy rainfall, and cooperation plans among related agencies.


Yoon Dongjun, Director of Forest Recreation Division, urged, "We will strengthen rapid restoration support activities in case of landslide damage and ask for preparations focusing on landslide-prone areas against typhoons and heavy rainfall."


The province plans to operate the landslide countermeasure situation room until October 15, maintaining a 24-hour emergency duty system in stages according to weather conditions.
