PH129 in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, is the highest-priced multi-family housing nationwide based on official land prices. The official price for this year is set at 16.32 billion KRW for an exclusive area of 407㎡. Originally called ‘The Penthouse Cheongdam,’ the name was changed to PH129 to reflect the penthouse (PH) built at the old address, Cheongdam-dong 129.
Nearby, ‘Hyosung Villa Cheongdam 101’ also incorporates the Cheongdam-dong 101 address into its complex name. This year, the official land price for an exclusive area of 247㎡ was 7.064 billion KRW, ranking third nationwide.
Similarly, ‘Nine One Hannam’ in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, a staple among ultra-high-end homes, is named after its location at Hannam-daero 91. Recently, BTS members RM and Jimin gained fame for cash transactions of 6.36 billion KRW and 5.9 billion KRW respectively.
In this way, high-priced housing complexes that have recently emerged as ‘hot places’ attract attention by including detailed addresses in their names. While it is common to include the neighborhood (dong) if the location is good, including the ‘lot number’ or ‘road name address’ distinctly expresses that the area is exceptional even among affluent neighborhoods.
Real Estate Info research team leader Kwon Il said, “For people from other regions, it is difficult to understand what the numbers mean, but including the lot number in the housing name is an expression of pride that it is a top-tier area even among affluent neighborhoods,” adding, “It is a kind of number marketing unique to some of the most luxurious homes.”
Among pre-sale complexes, some have also differentiated themselves by incorporating lot numbers into their names. ‘Lucia Dosan 208,’ constructed by DL Construction (formerly Daelim Construction), took the Dosan-daero 208 lot number into its apartment name. Following the completion of contracts for urban-style residential housing, the officetel (exclusive area 52~60㎡, 37 units) sales are progressing smoothly. Right next to the complex, the new Eulji Hospital Station on the Wirye-Sinsa Line, connecting Sinsa Station on Line 3 and Wirye New Town, is planned, making it a future ultra-transit-oriented complex.
