Jungnang-gu Expresses Gratitude in Honor of the Month of Patriots and Veterans Affairs

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) will hold various events from the 28th to 29th to express gratitude to those who dedicated themselves to the country in commemoration of the Month of Patriots and Veterans and the 71st anniversary of the Korean War.

First, on the 28th, a "One Heart Event for Patriots and Veterans" will be held at the Jungnang-gu Office basement auditorium, inviting about 100 national merit recipients and their families.

This event, hosted by nine veterans' organizations in the region, was established to express gratitude and respect to national merit recipients and their families who sacrificed for the country and to foster pride. It started in 2003 and this year marks its 19th edition.

At the event, 32 exemplary members who have led the promotion of veterans' culture will be awarded plaques of appreciation and commendations, and a congratulatory performance to comfort the veterans will be held. Attendees must bring their national merit ID or family member ID upon entry.

On the 29th, the "6.25 Commemorative Veterans' Comfort Gathering" will be held at the Jungnang-gu Citizens' Hall, inviting about 90 Korean War veterans.

Hosted by the Jungnang-gu branch of the Seoul Metropolitan Chapter of the Republic of Korea 6.25 Veterans Association (Branch Chief Bang Hee-do), this event will express gratitude to those who sacrificed for the country together with veteran members and provide time for harmony among members.

Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi of Jungnang-gu said, "I hope this will be a time to repay, even a little, the honorable lives of those who dedicated themselves to the country," and added, "We will do our best to ensure the welfare and respect of veterans through sustainable veterans' projects."

According to the ordinance on the treatment and support of national merit recipients revised in 2018, the district currently supports about 4,100 recipients with veterans' allowances and consolation money, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, has been providing nameplates to 2,542 households of national merit recipients since 2019.

Additionally, the district is striving to promote veterans' culture by operating the "Eternal Memory Volunteer Group," where residents individually manage the graves of patriots and famous figures resting in Manguri Park.
