[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Despite the spread of COVID-19, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Busan area that have achieved results through accumulated technology will be honored on stage.

Busan City (Mayor Park Hyung-jun) will hold the award ceremony for the ‘2021 Busan Small and Medium Businesspersons Convention’ on the 23rd at 2 p.m. at the Busan Lotte Hotel to discover and commend exemplary small business owners and workers who have led innovation and strengthened competitiveness by creating achievements for local SMEs through accumulated technological capabilities.

At this award ceremony, 21 honorees will receive industrial medals and commendations from heads of institutions (Prime Minister, Minister of Strategy and Finance, Minister of SMEs and Startups, Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City, Head of Busan Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration, Chairman of the Korea Federation of SMEs). About 100 people, including the Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs of Busan, the Head of Busan Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration, the Chairman of the Busan-Ulsan SME Association of the Korea Federation of SMEs, executives and staff of SME cooperatives, and awardees, will attend.

This year’s recipients of the Mayor’s Commendation are ▲Kim Deok-shin, CEO of Gukje Gisan Co., Ltd. ▲Kim Byung-soo, CEO of Dongjin Dining Co., Ltd. ▲Jeon Sang-woo, Deputy General Manager of Deokhwa Food Co., Ltd. ▲Choi Hwan-gi, employee of Hwashin Bolt Industry Co., Ltd., totaling four people (two exemplary small business owners and two exemplary workers).

Kim Deok-shin, CEO of Gukje Gisan Co., Ltd., manages a water quality and air measurement and water treatment environment engineering factory in Jangnim Rainbow Industrial Complex, and in 2014 established a company-affiliated research institute, growing it into a local environmental specialized company.

Kim Byung-soo, CEO of Dongjin Dining Co., Ltd., achieved sales of 10 billion KRW in 2017, manufacturing eco-friendly high-performance flame-retardant sheets and high-pile resilient brushed fabrics, and earned the honor of the award through joint development achievements with large corporations in shoe textiles and functional outdoor clothing.

Jeon Sang-woo, Deputy General Manager of Deokhwa Food Co., Ltd., contributed to increased efficiency through standardization of the seafood factory workplace, raw material bidding, and price negotiations for each product’s cost management.

Choi Hwan-gi, employee of Hwashin Bolt Industry Co., Ltd., was finally selected for his contribution to cost reduction and process improvement by operating a computerized system to secure transparency of standardized product inventory information.
