[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] On the 22nd, Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Province held the ‘3rd Anniversary Major Achievements Report Meeting of the 7th Elected Government’ to share the achievements of the 3rd anniversary of the 7th elected government and to review the pending tasks.

The report meeting was held under the chairmanship of County Governor Seo Chun-su, with Deputy County Governor Cha Seok-ho, heads of departments and offices, and eup/myeon heads attending, to analyze the major achievements of the past three years and seek directions for development.

Major achievements of the 7th elected government include the approval of the 2021 Hamyang Wild Ginseng Anti-Aging Expo as an international event and the attraction of the National Institute of Specialized Industry Promotion Center for Wild Ginseng, laying the foundation for Hamyang to leap forward as a center of health and healing. It is also emerging as a new hope for rural areas by leading the ‘Rural Utopia’ project.

To prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and revitalize the local economy, emergency disaster basic income was supported twice, and through various measures to revitalize local commercial districts, active job creation, and emergency welfare services, strong countermeasures have been implemented to overcome the COVID crisis together with the residents.

Welfare policies for the happiness of residents include various projects such as support for meal helpers at senior centers, a single fare system of 1,000 won, and bus boarding and alighting helpers, realizing welfare that impresses the residents.

In addition, Hamyang-gun has elevated its cultural tourism resources by opening Daebongsan Healing Valley, creating a maple tree forest trail in the Odonae area, registering Namgye Seowon as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, and opening the Seo Hamyang Hi-Pass IC.

Furthermore, sustainable development and living infrastructure for the happiness of residents are being built in Hamyang-gun through the release of 30,000㎡ of Handeul Agricultural Promotion Area, attraction of the Coupang logistics center, selection for the Urban Regeneration New Deal project for two consecutive years, and the move-in of Happy Housing.

Governor Seo said, “If we have drawn the big picture of the county’s 100-year future over the past three years, from now on, we will leverage the achievements and experiences to implement county administration that is practical and tangible to the residents based on the blueprint drawn so far,” and urged, “Please all work together to promptly handle ongoing projects to increase resident satisfaction.”
