The Democratic Party had already decided on the 8th to expel proportional representatives Yun and Yang, who are suspected of real estate speculation, based on the investigation results from the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
On the same day, Yang Euiyoung posted on Facebook, “My mother was deceived by scams such as planned real estate and currently holds land with no property value. The notification of the investigation results from the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission is merely a simple legal explanation of my mother’s situation, who was forced to hold land in a blind spot due to being scammed,” expressing her grievance. Yang criticized, “The party’s recent action is described as ‘putting the party before personal matters.’ It means that individuals should sacrifice even if they feel wronged for the party. Here, I find a pre-modern attitude that disregards individual freedom and dignity.”
She added, “I can imagine how much anguish the party leadership must have gone through upon receiving the investigation results from the Commission, considering the current political situation and circumstances,” but also pointed out, “More than that, I want to raise the issue that the values our party pursues and pre-modernism cannot coexist.”
Lawmaker Yun also stated, “Although the prosecution concluded no charges regarding the allegations about the house where my family and I reside, which were raised a year ago, I will sincerely explain the newly started real estate-related suspicions,” and added, “As an independent lawmaker, I will work diligently in legislative activities that embrace the lives of the people.”
