Conducted Town Hall Meeting on the 21st and Communicated with Employees
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] "Think of it as joining a new company," "I believe Timonians can become one team and create a service that makes an impact on the world, a commerce unique to TMON," said Jang Yoon-seok, CEO of TMON, who held his first town hall meeting with employees after being appointed co-CEO.
At the town hall meeting held on the afternoon of the 21st at TMON's headquarters in Daechi-dong, Seoul, CEO Jang mentioned the rapidly changing commerce environment and stated, "We need to organically combine TMON's 'commerce DNA,' which is a valuable asset, with 'content DNA.' The answer is already there, so we must upgrade the organization, corporate culture, and working methods to execute it." He also emphasized the fun of shopping and differentiation of experience, explaining that through this, partners, good products, and customers' shopping experiences should be organically connected.
He also stressed coexistence with various stakeholders that make up the commerce ecosystem, not just customers and partners. CEO Jang said, "Customers are not just simple consumers, partners are diversifying and segmenting, and the media delivering information is also diversifying. We need to redefine relationships with them, satisfy each of their needs, and build services based on coexistence that can create win-win outcomes."
To realize this, he urged employees to work with a 'startup mindset.' He emphasized, "Think of it as if you have newly joined a startup called TMON. Since it is a startup, execution and action based on horizontal communication are more important than anything else." Earlier that morning, CEO Jang personally installed a community service for smooth and broad internal communication and revealed plans to abolish ranks and change internal titles to English names. He also asked employees to become "good colleagues who learn when working together, feel excitement, and have the belief to create something the world has never seen."
Meanwhile, the town hall meeting was conducted with a small number of employees attending in person and real-time two-way communication through TMON's live commerce platform 'TVion.' During the approximately 100-minute live broadcast, all employees participated, watching the broadcast, reacting with comments, and asking questions, showing high interest.
