Key Role in Expanding and Operating Fulfillment Centers and Micro Fulfillment Centers
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Mesh Korea (CEO Yoo Jung-beom), operator of 'Boorung,' announced on the 22nd that it has established an Operations Headquarters to enhance logistics infrastructure and secure stability for increased profitability. The head of the headquarters is Choi Byung-joon, who has worked as a supply chain management (SCM) strategy expert for 24 years at leading domestic and international companies such as Coupang, Woowa Brothers, and Tesco.
Newly appointed Head Choi began his career at Samsung C&T Corporation and later gained experience as a distribution logistics expert at Homeplus and Tesco headquarters in the UK. Notably, at Homeplus, he served as SCM Headquarters Director (Executive Director) and achieved the milestone of handling 40% of total cargo volume within three years by introducing the nation's first advanced logistics business. Afterwards, while working as SCM Division Head (Executive Director) at Lotte Mart under Lotte Shopping, he contributed to improving company-wide logistics operations by introducing an automated forecasting and ordering system.
Recognized for this experience, he was recruited as Coupang's SCM General Manager, where he contributed to improving the operational efficiency of the core logistics hub, the Fulfillment Center (FC), and increasing the success rate of Rocket Delivery through sales forecasting. He is also credited by the industry for playing a key role in Coupang's explosive growth by establishing optimized fulfillment plans for dawn delivery of fresh food. Subsequently, at Woowa Brothers, operator of Baedal Minjok, he served as General Manager of B Mart operations, leading the establishment of 30 urban logistics centers, and most recently led Yogiyo's quick commerce service, Yomart, operated by Delivery Hero Korea.
Through this organizational restructuring and strategic appointment, Mesh Korea plans to aggressively expand logistics hubs while systematizing and streamlining operations. Earlier this month alone, Mesh Korea opened the Gimpo Fulfillment Center (FC) and Micro Fulfillment Center (MFC) Songpa Branch No. 2, establishing physical infrastructure as a comprehensive distribution logistics company. Going forward, additional FCs will be built in the metropolitan area including Gimpo and Namyangju, and MFCs will rapidly increase nationwide to 300 locations.
Yoo Jung-beom, CEO of Mesh Korea, said, "This organizational restructuring was carried out to sustain growth momentum by strengthening departmental expertise," adding, "Choi Byung-joon is the best SCM expert in Korea and the right person to lead Boorung as it aggressively expands its distribution logistics infrastructure at this time." CEO Yoo also stated, "We will successfully transplant and develop the innovative distribution logistics strategies of Coupang and Baedal Minjok into Boorung."
