[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Hwang Hee, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated that he plans to announce the direction regarding the site for the 'Lee Kun-hee Art Museum,' which will exhibit cultural assets and artworks donated by the family of the late Samsung Chairman Lee Kun-hee, around early July.
Minister Hwang said this on the 21st during the plenary meeting of the National Assembly's Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee, adding, "The site has not been finalized yet."
In response to a question from Choi Hyung-doo, a member of the People Power Party, asking whether Songhyeon-dong in Jongno-gu, Seoul, is being considered as the museum site, Minister Hwang replied, "If you put it that way, there are currently more than 30 candidate sites."
When Kim Seung-soo, another People Power Party member, asked about Minister Hwang's recent media interview emphasizing "accessibility in the metropolitan area," questioning if this meant the site would be located in the metropolitan area, Minister Hwang added, "I never expressed such a statement about a metropolitan area location. I will discuss with experts and make an announcement."
