Head of Waterworks Office Conducts On-Site Inspection of Chilseo Intake Facility in Preparation for Algae Outbreak

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Kwon Kyungman, head of the Waterworks Business Office, visited Chilseo Intake Station on the 21st to inspect facilities such as algae blocking screens in preparation for summer algae outbreaks as the occurrence period of green algae in the Nakdong River approaches.

The city conducts annual pre-inspections of facilities including algae blocking screens, surface disturbance devices, and sprinkling devices.

Following the recent opening of the Changnyeong-Haman Weir, which lowered the Nakdong River water level from 4.8m to 2.2m, focused inspections were carried out on the surface disturbance devices.

Key response measures during algae outbreaks include installing algae blocking screens at intake stations and operating surface disturbance and sprinkling devices.

To enhance coagulation efficiency through optimal coagulant injection, pretreatment has been strengthened, and a 'Water Treatment Response Plan for Algae Outbreaks' has been established and implemented to remove toxic substances and odor-causing compounds caused by algae.
