Scheduled for Completion in the Second Half of 2024... Multipurpose Gymnasium, Swimming Pool, and More to Be Established
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 21st that the winning design for the expansion project of sports facilities in Naman New Town was selected through an online evaluation by the Public Procurement Service on the 17th.
The Naman New Town sports facility expansion project is a project to construct a 7,970㎡ total floor area sports facility with one basement floor and three above-ground floors at 2598 Namak-ri, Samhyang-eup, with a total project cost of 35.4 billion KRW (8.26 billion KRW from the national government and 27.14 billion KRW from the county government).
The first floor of the sports facility will include a swimming pool and wakeboarding area, the second floor will have a VR room and a fitness room, and the third floor will be a multipurpose gymnasium.
To promote the project, the county established the project plan in 2019, passed the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s central investment review in November 2020, and this year confirmed the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s local sports facility support project (national subsidy project). They allocated a design budget of 1.6 billion KRW including the supplementary budget and proceeded with the design competition.
The architectural design competition was commissioned to the Public Procurement Service, with three companies participating. Through the online evaluation held on the 17th, the work of Gil Comprehensive Architects ENG Co., Ltd. was selected as the winner.
Based on the winning design, the county plans to actively promote the Naman New Town sports facility expansion project, complete the design by March next year, and complete construction in the second half of 2024.
A county official said, “We will do our best to ensure that this project to expand the base of community sports in the new town proceeds without any setbacks.”
Governor Kim San said, “The sports facilities in Naman New Town can be used not only for community sports but also as a survival swimming experience education center for elementary schools, so it is expected to be widely used by neighboring cities and counties as well.” He added, “Once the sports facilities are completed, they are expected to greatly contribute to improving the health of new town residents and meeting their leisure needs.”
