[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk Province (Governor Yu Gisang) announced on the 21st that it is recruiting 'Hanok Construction Support Pilot Project Candidates' until the 30th to inherit and utilize traditional hanok houses in the region.
This year's Hanok Construction Support Pilot Project is limited to single-family houses that are actually inhabited and reflect traditional Korean architectural styles.
The eligible construction scale for support is a floor area of 60㎡ or more.
Applicants must submit application forms and design drawings, and the Jeonbuk Province Architectural Committee will review and decide on the eligibility for the Hanok Construction Support Project.
Additionally, the support amount varies according to the building area when constructing a new hanok: up to 30 million KRW for 60㎡ to less than 70㎡, up to 40 million KRW for 70㎡ to less than 85㎡, and up to 50 million KRW for 85㎡ or more.
Owners and managers of buildings supported by the Hanok Construction Support Project must submit a hanok registration application to register the respective hanok.
A county official stated, "Through the Hanok Construction Support Project, we will lead the popularization of hanok, traditional Korean houses," and added, "We hope for active interest and applications from the residents."
