[Asia Economy Reporter Joselgina] Reports have emerged that the Apple iPhone 13 (tentative name), set to be released in the second half of this year, will include a pink color option, and the Pro Max model will feature a large-capacity battery of over 4000mAh for the first time in an iPhone.
According to reports from IT specialized media PhoneArena and CNET on the 21st, the iPhone 13 is expected to be officially released in mid-September. Guo Mingchi, an analyst at Taiwan's TF International Securities, well known for accurately predicting Apple’s new product specifications, forecasted that the new iPhone lineup this year will consist of four models just like the iPhone 12 lineup: iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max.
In particular, there are continuous expectations that the iPhone 13 lineup will have increased battery capacity and significantly improved camera specifications compared to its predecessor. Earlier, IT tipster L0vetodream revealed on Twitter that the battery capacity of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro will be up to 3095mAh. Additionally, the iPhone 13 Pro Max is said to have a 4325mAh battery.
PhoneArena also reported that the iPhone 13 Pro Max will be the first iPhone to boast a battery capacity exceeding 4000mAh. However, CNET mentioned, "Apple’s battery capacity is insufficient compared to competitors’ premium phones," noting that Samsung Electronics’ flagship Galaxy S21 series has battery capacities ranging from 4000 to 5000mAh.
As the release date of the new iPhone approaches, iPhone 13 renderings are being continuously revealed online. Looking at the iPhone 13 renderings released by MacRumors, the shape of the previous model is maintained, but the rear camera area appears larger. This is analyzed to be related to improvements in camera functionality.
First, the iPhone 13 is expected to have significantly improved zoom functionality. Also, all iPhone 13 models are reported to support sensor-shift stabilization, which minimizes video shake. The LiDAR sensor, which was originally supported only on the Pro and Pro Max models, is also expected to be expanded to all iPhone models.
Reports are also emerging that the pink color option, first introduced with the iPhone 5c, will make a comeback. Recently, renderings of the iPhone 13 in pink have been shared on social media.
Some speculate that considering the Western aversion to the number 13, the name of the iPhone 13 might be changed. CNET stated, "Apple might skip 13," explaining that "for superstitious reasons, the number 13 is sometimes omitted from elevator buttons in high-rise buildings."
