Approximately 1.8 Times Faster CPU Computation Speed Compared to Previous Model Enables Quicker Obstacle Detection
First Application of Object Collection Color in Robot Vacuum Cleaner
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] LG Electronics launched the robot vacuum cleaner 'CodeZero R9 Objet Collection' on the 21st.
LG Electronics has enhanced the artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities of its robot vacuum cleaner. The LG CodeZero R9 Objet Collection uses AI deep learning technology trained on approximately 3 million object images, four times more than the previous model's 700,000 images, enabling it to recognize indoor spaces and obstacles more accurately.
For example, it recognizes thresholds and continues cleaning after crossing them. However, it appropriately responds to the space, such as not crossing veranda window sills, which have a larger height difference than the living room and cannot be returned from once crossed.
The new product's central processing unit (CPU) performance has also improved. Compared to the previous model, LG CodeZero ThinQ R9 Voice, the processing speed is about 1.8 times faster, allowing it to detect obstacles more quickly.
The convenience of the previous model has been retained. Customers can connect the robot vacuum cleaner to LG Electronics' smart home app, LG ThinQ, to use various smart features. By linking the LG ThinQ app with Naver's AI platform Clova, users can also control the robot vacuum cleaner via voice commands.
For example, after calling "Hi LG!", customers can use voice commands such as "Clean the kitchen in thorough mode," voice manuals like "Explain how to schedule cleaning," and additional features providing daily information such as weather and time. The newly applied My Voice feature in this product allows users to record and set cleaning start and end sounds in their preferred voice.
The new product uses artificial intelligence deep learning technology trained on approximately 3 million object images to more accurately recognize indoor spaces and obstacles.
LG Electronics' exclusive Smart Pairing feature also stands out. When the new product and CodeZero M9 are each linked to the LG ThinQ app, the CodeZero R9 Objet Collection completes vacuuming, and then the mop-only robot vacuum cleaner CodeZero M9 ThinQ automatically proceeds with mopping.
The Home View and Home Guard features are also advantages. Home View allows customers to monitor their home in real-time using their smartphones and remotely control the vacuum cleaner. This is useful when there are children or pets at home. Home Guard detects movement inside the house, takes photos, and sends them to the user, which can be used for security when the home is empty.
Additionally, this product is equipped with a smart inverter motor that provides strong suction power and can clean for up to 90 minutes. It increases suction power when it detects carpets, corners, or dusty areas, and adjusts brush rotation speed and driving speed according to the situation.
LG Electronics applied Objet Collection colors such as Calming Green and Calming Beige to the robot vacuum cleaner, allowing it to blend naturally with the overall interior of the home. The retail price is 1.29 million KRW.
Baek Seungtae, Vice President and Head of the Living Appliance Division at the H&A Business Division, said, "The new product, which incorporates LG robot vacuum cleaner's advanced technology into interior design, will make customers' lives more convenient on a whole new level."
