Open Democratic Party Spokesperson: "Yoon Must Have Felt Insulted by Lee Dong-hoon"

Open Democratic Party Spokesperson: "Yoon Must Have Felt Insulted by Lee Dong-hoon" Kim Seong-hoe, spokesperson for the Open Democratic Party, commented on the 20th via his Facebook that Lee Dong-hoon, spokesperson for former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, resigned for "personal reasons" just ten days after his appointment. He expressed disbelief, saying "That can't be," and evaluated Yoon, stating, "With the personnel skills to dismiss a spokesperson after only ten days, I am half worried, half worried about how the campaign will be organized."

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] On the 20th, Kim Seonghoe, spokesperson for the Open Democratic Party, commented on the resignation of Lee Donghoon, spokesperson for former Prosecutor General Yoon Seokyeol, who stepped down for "personal reasons" just ten days after his appointment. Kim expressed disbelief, saying "No way," and evaluated Yoon by stating, "With the ability to dismiss a spokesperson within ten days, I am half worried and half concerned about how the campaign will be organized."

On the same day, Kim said on his Facebook that Lee's resignation was likely related not to "personal reasons" but to Lee's "mistakes."

First, Kim said Lee's "first mistake was removing Jang Yechan, who is very close to former Prosecutor General Yoon." He analyzed, "It was not within his authority, but Lee, who had even been a columnist for a major central daily newspaper (Chosun Ilbo), was probably very displeased to be treated on the same level as a rookie politician like Jang Yechan." He added, "Since he openly showed that displeasure, it must have been taken as an insult to Yoon Seokyeol, who chose Jang Yechan."

Secondly, Kim analyzed that Lee's mistake was revealing Yoon's political moves on his own radio show. Kim explained, "The mistake was that Lee went on the radio and prematurely announced Yoon's political move regarding joining the People Power Party as happening around 'late June to early July'." He speculated, "Probably, with his long experience in the political department, he tried to persuade Yoon, but when Yoon hesitated and was indecisive, Lee just announced the schedule on the radio."

Kim claimed, "However, from Yoon's perspective, he probably could not get rid of the thought, 'How dare someone with just some reporter experience try to lead me?'"

Kim also offered advice to former Prosecutor General Yoon. Kim said, "While I worry about Lee Donghoon's future, who left his lifelong job, I am more concerned about Yoon's future," adding, "Yoon needs someone who can organize internal affairs on his behalf and sometimes play the villain without hesitation, but from what I see, there is no internal figure to provide such political coordination."

He then asked, "When you actually step onto the Yeouido UFC stage, don't you feel it's a bit different?" He said, "First of all, there is no one wearing a dobok (martial arts uniform), and everyone is just in their underwear, so you might think, 'Hey, this isn't the rule I expected.'" He added, "Hold on tight. It hasn't even started yet."

Meanwhile, Lee Donghoon announced on the same day that he was stepping down "due to personal reasons such as health." This came just ten days after his appointment as spokesperson. Lee, a former columnist for Chosun Ilbo, was appointed as spokesperson for former Prosecutor General Yoon on the 10th. Since there were differing messages between Yoon and Lee regarding Yoon's entry into the People Power Party, there has been speculation that this resignation was effectively a dismissal.
