"Renting Out the Botanical Garden" Seoul Botanical Garden Creator Contest

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that starting from the 21st, it will recruit creators to participate in the online video contest "2021 Renting the Botanical Garden," which supports filming videos anywhere inside the Seoul Botanical Garden.

Last year, as the Seoul Botanical Garden was closed for an extended period due to COVID-19, it actively utilized the internal spaces of the garden to share its beautiful scenery with citizens by recruiting creators to produce and share innovative videos.

Any creator who regularly produces and uploads videos on personal channels such as YouTube or SNS can apply. Selected teams can film videos in any desired space within the Seoul Botanical Garden without additional rental fees. Once selected, creators will conduct an on-site survey in mid-July to select and negotiate suitable locations for their content, and begin full-scale filming in July and August. After filming, the completed video must be uploaded to the personal channel within one month and will be featured by adding it to the Seoul Botanical Garden YouTube playlist.

The content has no restrictions on themes such as drawing, plant interior design (planterior), musical instrument performance, or simple cooking, but it must include ideas that can promote plants and plant culture or capture the beautiful scenery of the botanical garden in the video.

A total of 15 teams will be recruited, with applications accepted from the 21st to the 30th. Applicants can access the link provided on the Seoul Botanical Garden website and SNS to fill out the application form. In addition to the participation application, applicants must also submit a shooting plan and proposal including the content theme and production plan.

In the first "Renting the Botanical Garden" creator contest held last October, 277 teams applied, and 10 teams were finally selected to produce and share unique videos, which have been viewed a total of 4.62 million times to date.

The Seoul Botanical Garden plans to showcase a new side of the garden through creators participating in this year's "Renting the Botanical Garden" and establish the event as an annual occasion to share the beautiful scenery of the botanical garden.

Han Jung-hoon, director of the Seoul Botanical Garden, said, "This will provide creators, who have limited freedom for performances and filming due to COVID-19, with a free and safe filming space, as well as an opportunity to widely promote the diverse charms of the Seoul Botanical Garden." He added, "We will continue to explore various ways to share the beautiful scenery of the Seoul Botanical Garden with citizens."
