Exploration Experience Using 'Chokgak Picture Cards'
The Cultural Heritage Administration's Palace and Royal Tombs Division will conduct a tactile picture card exploration experience for visually impaired individuals at Gyeongbokgung Palace on the 22nd and 25th. Visually impaired participants will receive preliminary training to conceptualize scenes using tactile picture cards produced with 3D printing technology. Then, accompanied by a guide, they will tour the palace to experience spatial awareness and actual textures. An official stated, "This was planned in response to feedback that relying solely on Braille and raised dots has limitations for viewing," adding, "It will provide an opportunity to accurately understand the palace's two-dimensional and spatial layouts." About twenty visually impaired individuals from Seoul will participate in the pilot operation.
