On the 20th, President Moon stated through a social network service (SNS) message, "I sincerely congratulate the Secretary-General on his re-election."
Secretary-General Guterres was unanimously reappointed at the UN General Assembly on the 18th (local time). Earlier, President Moon had met and exchanged greetings with Secretary-General Guterres at the G7 Summit held in Cornwall, United Kingdom, from the 11th to the 13th.
President Moon said, "I am pleased to extend my congratulations just a few days after exchanging greetings in Cornwall," and added, "I will continue to work closely with the Secretary-General to address global crises such as permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula, infectious diseases, and climate change."
He further stated, "Korea will always stand with the United Nations on the journey toward peace and prosperity not only on the Korean Peninsula but around the world."
