[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Former Minister of Justice Chu Mi-ae has announced her plan to run for president.
On the 20th, former Minister Chu wrote on Facebook, "After long deliberation, I have made up my mind. I have decided to raise the flag toward a 'world where people are valued highly,'" and stated that she will declare her presidential candidacy on the 23rd at 2 PM through her YouTube channel 'Chu Mi-ae TV.'
Former Minister Chu explained, "Nothing is higher than people. People are higher than money, higher than land, and higher than power," adding, "'A country that values people highly' embodies the constitutional spirit of popular sovereignty and, at the gateway to becoming an advanced nation, is a country that above all raises the dignity of its citizens."
The declaration ceremony is scheduled to be held remotely via YouTube live streaming.
Former Minister Chu emphasized, "During the times when I was fighting alone against resistance to reform, I will meet you live through my YouTube channel 'Chu Mi-ae TV,' which has 210,000 subscribers who supported me with encouragement."
She expressed her intention to look toward the same time and place together with citizens not only nationwide but from all over the world, and said she will introduce her passion and vision without any special guests or congratulatory speeches.
