"Hope It Becomes an Opportunity to Actively Utilize NTIS... Also Actively Used for Service Improvement"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-su] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 20th that it will hold the 'NTIS Information Utilization Competition' and the 'NTIS Content Contest' to increase understanding and interest in the National Science & Technology Information Service (NTIS).
NTIS (National Science & Technology Information Service) is a national R&D knowledge portal that provides information on projects, tasks, personnel, and achievements related to science and technology and national research and development projects.
The 'NTIS Information Utilization Competition' will discover new service ideas for NTIS and improvement ideas for existing services under the theme of the '2021 NTIS Service Discovery Project.' Submissions will be accepted from the 21st until the 20th of next month. After the first evaluation, 10 teams will participate in joint training to supplement and develop their submissions with experts. Five teams (1 grand prize, 2 excellence awards, 2 encouragement awards) will receive the Minister of Science and ICT Award, the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information Director's Award, and a total prize money of 5 million KRW. Various valuable information such as interviews with past winners and preparation methods for the competition can be found on the official NTIS blog.
The 'NTIS Content Contest' accepts various types of submissions related to NTIS, such as webtoons, card news, and videos, including ways to utilize NTIS and promotional content that encourages the use of NTIS. Submissions received by the 27th of next month will undergo a first internal evaluation, followed by expert and public evaluations to select the final winners. A total of five teams (1 grand prize, 2 excellence awards, 2 encouragement awards) will receive the Minister of Science and ICT Award, the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information Director's Award, and a total prize money of 2.5 million KRW. Lee Seok-rae, Director of the Performance Evaluation Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, “We hope that through this competition and contest, more citizens will take an interest in the scientific and technological information held by NTIS and utilize it in various ways,” adding, “Good suggestions that can help users will be actively used to improve NTIS services.”
