[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] Lee Dong-hoon, spokesperson for former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, a leading opposition presidential candidate, abruptly resigned on the 20th. It has been only ten days since he was appointed as Yoon's spokesperson.
Lee announced in a message sent to reporters around 7 a.m. that day, "I am stepping down for personal reasons."
Previously, Lee worked as a columnist for the Chosun Ilbo before becoming Yoon's first spokesperson on the 10th.
With Lee's resignation, Lee Sang-rok, who was appointed as a co-spokesperson, will handle Yoon's public relations duties for the time being.
In a message to reporters, Lee Sang-rok said, "On the evening of the 18th, former Prosecutor General Yoon met with the two spokespersons and encouraged them to be more humble before the public, but on the afternoon of the 19th, due to health and other reasons, Lee Dong-hoon expressed that he could no longer continue as spokesperson."
He added, "Former Prosecutor General Yoon also accepted this with regret."
