[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] Ahn Cheol-soo, leader of the People’s Party, expressed his sorrow and offered condolences for the death of Rescue Team Leader Kim Dong-sik, who died in the line of duty while conducting rescue operations at the Coupang logistics center fire in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province on the 19th.
On the same day, Ahn posted on his Facebook, "Many citizens gathered their hearts, earnestly waiting for the safe return of Rescue Team Leader Kim Dong-sik, but he ultimately did not come back," adding, "Thinking of the image of Rescue Team Leader Kim Dong-sik fighting the fierce flames until the very end makes me feel deeply sorry and heartbroken."
He said, "It is our responsibility to remember the fragrance of life left by Rescue Team Leader Kim Dong-sik, who usually made a round to check the surroundings first to ensure his colleagues were not injured at the scene, and who devoted himself to training even the day before the fire while showing his colleagues a daily smile," and added, "I pray for the repose of Rescue Team Leader Kim Dong-sik, who died in the line of duty while dedicating himself to our society and neighbors. I also sincerely offer my deepest condolences to his bereaved family."
