[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The place where fish cake met the chef is YouTube. The popularity of that YouTube content is blazing like a fire in learning cooking.
A YouTube channel where famous culinary expert Chef Oh Se-deuk revealed three fish cake recipe dishes has surpassed 16,000 views within two weeks of upload, gaining popularity.
It is record-breaking that a cooking method, rather than entertainment, news, or current affairs programs that attract attention with issues, has drawn so many views in a short period.
The ‘Fish Cake Recipe’ revealed by Chef Oh Se-deuk uses the recipe for ‘Our Family Kkankanhan Sauce-flavored Delicious Cooking Fish Cake,’ the latest product in Samjin Food’s sodium-reduced brand ‘Our Family Kkankanhan’ line.
The recipes include Rose Fish Cake, Fish Cake Nurungji Soup, and Kung Pao Fish Cake.
Chef Oh’s ‘Fish Cake Recipe,’ released through Samjin Fish Cake’s official YouTube channel, is a recipe video anyone can easily and simply follow, targeting ‘Yorinikis’ (cooking beginners).
The reason is a 10-minute program combining cooking and children, sparking interest among cooking novices.
Recently, ‘Modisumers,’ who change recipes to suit their preferences to create new dishes and share them on social networking services (SNS), have also had a significant influence on the food industry.
‘Modisumer’ is a compound word of ‘Modify’ and ‘Consumer,’ referring to consumers who recreate existing products according to their tastes.
The ‘Fish Cake Recipe’ developed directly by Chef Oh Se-deuk has gained word-of-mouth among these ‘Modisumers,’ leading to the production of other ‘Fish Cake Recipe’ content that attracts consumer attention.
One consumer said, “I made it just by following the recipe, and it was really easy to make,” while another responded, “The collaboration of rose sauce and fish cake is a unique dish.”
According to Samjin Fish Cake and Chef Oh Se-deuk, Rose Fish Cake is a recipe made using components (fish cake, tteokbokki sauce, tteokbokki flakes) from the ‘Our Family Kkankanhan Tteokbokki Cooking Fish Cake’ product.
It has been reborn as a trendy menu based on the Korean-style rose sauce trend, the ‘K-Rose’ craze.
Fish Cake Nurungji Soup is a recipe made using components (fish cake, skewer sauce, skewer flakes) from the ‘Our Family Kkankanhan Skewer Cooking Fish Cake’ product. This recipe was created as a dish for guests or as a hangover cure.
Kung Pao Fish Cake is a recipe made using components (fish cake, stir-fry sauce, stir-fry flakes) from the ‘Our Family Kkankanhan Stir-fry Cooking Fish Cake’ product.
This recipe is based on Kung Pao chicken, which uses chicken as the base, but Kung Pao Fish Cake is a premium stir-fry dish made using fish cake instead of chicken.
Chef Oh Se-deuk’s ‘Fish Cake Recipe’ using the three types of Our Family Kkankanhan Cooking Fish Cakes can be found on the purchase page for the three products on Samjin Fish Cake’s official online mall or on Samjin Fish Cake’s official YouTube channel.
Hwang Chang-hwan, CEO of Samjin Food, said, “We proceeded with this project hoping many people would enjoy fish cake as a special ‘dish,’” adding, “We hope fish cake, a food with infinite potential for development into various ‘dishes,’ will continue to receive much love.”
Chef Oh Se-deuk, owner chef of ‘Chinmil,’ is loved for his skilled cooking and witty talk on popular TV programs such as ‘Please Take Care of My Refrigerator,’ ‘Wednesday Food Talk,’ ‘My Little Television,’ and ‘Cook Representative.’
Samjin Fish Cake’s ‘Our Family Kkankanhan Fish Cake,’ launched last October as a ‘low-sodium fish cake,’ has recorded cumulative sales of over one million packs since its release. Recently, it was selected as the number one brand in the seafood processed food category in the 23rd Korea Brand Power Index (K-BPI) survey.
