On the 24th at 7:30 PM, Suncheon City Choir's 87th Regular Concert
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 18th that it will hold the 87th regular concert of the Suncheon City Choir at 7:30 PM on the 24th at the Suncheon Culture and Arts Center Grand Theater.
This concert was prepared to commemorate the spirits of the patriotic martyrs and national heroes in honor of the June Month of Patriots and Veterans, and to convey comfort and encouragement in overcoming the difficult times of COVID-19 together.
‘Requiem’ is music to console the souls of the deceased, and the Brahms Requiem to be performed this time will include a total of seven pieces, such as ‘Blessed are they that mourn (selig sind, die da leid tragen).’
It is said that Brahms wished this Requiem, which begins by offering consolation to the mourners rather than the dead, to be called a humanistic Requiem.
Also, it is currently known as the ‘Requiem for the Living’ and is loved as a work that gives comfort and hope to many people.
The performance will feature the Suncheon City Choir and Iksan City Choir, with soprano Park So-eun and baritone Jang Eun-seok collaborating with the SC Chamber Orchestra.
According to COVID-19 prevention guidelines, only 50% of the seats will be available for the audience. The performance is open to those aged 7 and older, and the admission fee is 10,000 KRW for all seats, with a 50% discount for regular members, elementary to high school students, and national veterans.
