Gwangju Seo-gu Hwajeong 1-dong Saemaeul Association Conducts Home Repair Volunteer Activities

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The Saemaeul Association of Hwajeong 1-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (President Yoon Oh-young) announced on the 18th that they carried out house repair volunteer activities for families in need of care.

The target household for this house repair was an elderly family with physical difficulties, where mold had grown on the wallpaper and flooring, making it difficult even to sit. Waste that had not been disposed of for a long time was piled up throughout the house, and spoiled food remained in the refrigerator, resulting in very poor sanitary conditions.

Accordingly, members of the Hwajeong 1-dong Saemaeul Association took on the house repair volunteer work that had been postponed due to COVID-19.

Despite the drizzle, the members cleaned up the accumulated waste inside the house, replaced the wallpaper and flooring, and cleaned the kitchen, bathroom, and other areas from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Saemaeul Women's Association, Youth Association, and other grassroots organizations also contributed their efforts to this house repair volunteer work.

Yoon Oh-young, president of the Saemaeul Association, said, “Many residents participated to create a pleasant living space for the village residents,” and added, “I hope the elderly and their families live healthily in a comfortable environment.”
