[Asia Economy Reporter Joeslgina] KT M Mobile, the No. 1 domestic budget phone company, announced on the 18th that it donated a total of 1,068 lunchboxes to socially vulnerable groups such as residents of jjokbangchon (roofless villages) in Seoul and children in childcare facilities, together with convenience store Seven Eleven.
This sponsorship was made to support the resolution of meal shortages and the stabilization of living conditions for marginalized neighbors suffering from the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Since February 2019, the two companies have been conducting sharing activities annually targeting socially vulnerable groups such as jjokbangchon residents and children in childcare facilities as part of customer appreciation activities, after signing a partnership for budget phone USIM sales to expand consumer convenience.
At the lunchbox sharing event in Jongno-gu jjokbangchon on the 15th, Choi Young-min, director of the Donu-dong jjokbang counseling center, said, “Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, it has become difficult to operate free meal centers normally, causing many difficulties for jjokbangchon residents to secure meals,” and added, “We deeply appreciate the warm hearts and attention given to the residents.”
Chae Jeong-ho, CEO of KT M Mobile, said, “We hope that the lunchboxes donated together with Seven Eleven will be of some help to our neighbors going through difficult times due to COVID-19,” and added, “We will continue to seek various social contribution activities to share the love we received from customers with the vulnerable neighbors in our society.”
