Design Starting This Second Half of the Year... Construction Scheduled for Next Second Half
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Institute of Architects announced on the 18th that the winning design for the National Korean Literature Museum construction competition is "Literature Village" by D&B Architects. The building's exterior, themed around a village, is an impressive work. The interior, consisting of literary-themed spaces, author memorial spaces, storage areas, and education and office spaces, is designed to allow visitors to move freely. It was also praised for harmonizing well with the nearby Bukhansan Mountain and Eunpyeong-gu Artists' Village. The judging panel included Professor Kim Yong-seung from Hanyang University’s Department of Architecture, Professor Lim Ho-gyun from Yonsei University’s Department of Interior Architecture, and Thomas Bonnier, President of the International Union of Architects.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will exhibit the award-winning works, including "Literature Village," at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Seoul from the 29th of this month to the 4th of next month. The design phase for the National Korean Literature Museum will begin in the second half of this year, with construction scheduled to start in the second half of next year. Located in Jingwan-dong, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul, this building will serve as a complex cultural space for the collection, preservation, research, exhibition, and education of Korean literary materials.
