Exhibition of Works by 8 Young Artisans Continuing Tradition
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that from the 22nd to July 30th, a special exhibition titled "Objects of the House - The Dignity of Life" will be held at the 'Hong Geon-ik House,' located on the west side of Gyeongbokgung Palace. This exhibition will showcase everyday items that were used in homes in the past, reinterpreted in a modern way through the works of young artisans in their 20s and 30s.
The 'Hong Geon-ik House' has been operated by Remark Press under private consignment since January this year. It serves as the starting point for traveling the west side of Gyeongbokgung Palace, a cultural and artistic activity space, and a community-oriented public hanok that grows together with local residents.
The exhibition consists of lifestyle craftworks by eight young artisans displayed in the inner quarters and the main hall of the Hong Geon-ik House, allowing visitors not only to view but also to touch and use the items.
Going forward, starting with the "Objects of the House - The Dignity of Life" exhibition, the Hong Geon-ik House plans to sequentially exhibit lifestyle crafts themed around four values: 'Character, Conduct, and Dignity.'
This exhibition operates by advance reservation in accordance with COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. Visitors can sit in the main hall to view the exhibition and naturally take photos.
