Hamyang-gun Seonbi Culture Exploration Trail Emerges as a Safe Non-Face-to-Face Summer Tourist Destination
Non-Face-to-Face Tourism Expected to Gain Attention Due to the Impact of Hamyang Sansam Anti-Aging Expo
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The 2021 Hamyang Sansam Anti-Aging Expo, themed around the millennium-old wild ginseng and the dream of life extension, is emerging as a non-face-to-face travel destination where visitors can feel safe.
The Korea Tourism Organization recently selected Hamyang’s Seonbi Culture Exploration Trail as one of the top 25 safe non-face-to-face summer tourist spots. It is a place that is not crowded with people and offers beautiful natural scenery, making it an ideal location to spend the hot summer safely and comfortably.
Hamyang, which is establishing itself as the mecca of the wild ginseng and anti-aging industry through hosting the expo, has been presented with a golden opportunity to reinvent itself as a safe and secure tourist destination.
Besides the Seonbi Culture Exploration Trail, which was chosen as a safe non-face-to-face travel spot, every place you visit in Hamyang is a safe and enjoyable area.
Thanks to this, the Expo Organizing Committee is preparing to hold the expo in a hybrid format, both online and offline, to ensure that everyone can safely and securely enjoy the event in the post-COVID-19 era.
The Expo Organizing Committee is working hard to establish quarantine measures to hold a safe and secure expo amid COVID-19.
They regularly hold advisory meetings with experts from various fields to gather opinions and continuously review and supplement quarantine measures.
Wearing masks is mandatory throughout all event venues, and experiences such as Simmani (wild ginseng hunter) activities, anti-aging healing programs, horseback riding, and sturgeon experiences will comply with social distancing guidelines to ensure both safety and enjoyment.
A variety of online content that can be enjoyed from home will also be provided. The opening ceremony, performances, and major exhibition contents will be accessible online. An online promotional hall and online sales exhibitions for related domestic companies will be operated, allowing visitors to browse and purchase products from home.
The Expo Organizing Committee will also hold academic conferences to globalize the value of Hamyang wild ginseng. Through this, overseas speakers and participants from industry, academia, research, and government sectors both domestic and abroad will connect the world online for academic exchange.
The Hamyang Seonbi Culture Exploration Trail preserves the atmosphere of the scholars of the past. Hwarim Valley, located in Hwarim-dong, Seoha-myeon, Hamyang-gun, was a passageway for Yeongnam scholars traveling to Hanyang to take the civil service examination. Thanks to the beautiful pavilions and flat rock slabs creating a magnificent landscape, it was called Paldampaljeong (Eight Pools and Eight Pavilions). This is why Hwarim-dong has long been known as the “treasure trove of pavilion culture.”
The Hwarim Valley near Jirisan is divided into two sections: a 6 km section connecting seven pavilions and a 4.1 km section. It is well maintained so visitors can leisurely stroll and feel the spirit of the old scholars.
The first section, named the “Pavilion Exploration Trail,” is a course from Geoyeonjeong to Nongwoljeong. Nongwoljeong is called the essence of Hwarim-dong and means “teasing the moon with a single cup of wine.” It is a place where flat rocks, valleys, and pavilions come together to create a stunning view. It is located far from the road, making it an excellent spot to appreciate nature.
The second section is the “Seonbi Exploration Trail,” a course from Nongwoljeong to Orisup. This course offers not only valleys but also rice paddies swaying in the breeze, providing a refreshing experience just by walking.
Additionally, along the Seonbi Culture Exploration Trail, visitors can encounter beautiful pavilions such as Geoyeonjeong, Yeongguijeong, Donghojeong, Gyeongmojeong, and Ramcheonjeong. Notably, Geoyeonjeong and Donghojeong appeared in the popular variety show 1 Night 2 Days “Hamyang” episode, attracting viewers’ attention with their beautiful scenery.
Kim Jong-soon, Secretary General of the Expo Organizing Committee, said, “We are pleased that the Hamyang Seonbi Culture Exploration Trail was selected as a safe non-face-to-face tourist destination ahead of the Hamyang Sansam Anti-Aging Expo. We will do our best to prepare diligently during the remaining period so that the expo can be an event that everyone can safely and securely enjoy.”
