[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced on the 17th the launch of the Gender Equality Organizational Innovation Promotion Team to prevent sexual harassment and sexual violence incidents in the public sector.
The Gender Equality Organizational Innovation Promotion Team (hereinafter referred to as the Promotion Team) is composed of the Organizational Culture Innovation Team and the Education Innovation Team, and operates with personnel dispatched from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. The Promotion Team is a temporary organization established and operated under the enforcement of the regulations for the installation and operation of the Gender Equality Organizational Innovation Promotion Team, and will operate temporarily until June next year.
The Promotion Team will focus on consulting for creating a gender-equal organizational culture and conducting sexual harassment and sexual violence prevention education. It supports diagnosis and analysis of organizational culture in central government agencies, local governments, and public institutions, as well as the establishment of improvement plans for each institution.
It is also responsible for sexual harassment and sexual violence prevention education for high-ranking officials and secondary damage prevention education conducted by investigative agencies. The prevention education for high-ranking officials includes not only heads of central administrative agencies and local governments but also superintendents of education, deputy heads of each public sector, and practical department heads at the director level or higher in central administrative agencies or local governments.
It develops and operates secondary damage prevention education programs for investigators handling female violence cases such as prosecutors, police officers, and labor inspectors. This is to enhance gender sensitivity during the investigation process.
Minister of Gender Equality and Family Jeong Young-ae said, "With the launch of the Promotion Team, I hope it will be an opportunity for a new leap toward creating a gender-equal organizational culture, including specialized education for high-ranking officials, strengthening secondary damage prevention education for investigative agencies, and improving discriminatory cultures," and added, "We will actively strive to create changes that the public can feel and experience to realize a truly gender-equal society."
